Noisy roadworks

Noisy roadworks can be distressing for people living and working nearby, particularly if they continue for some time.

Westminster council recently allowed resurfacing works on Upper St. Martin’s Lane that took place all night until 4am.  Here is a short video clip of what was going on before they even started digging into the surface with heavy machinery.  You can see residential windows at first floor level and above at the end.  Several hundred people in nearby residential blocks got no sleep!

Another clip here shows use of unnecessarily loud reversing alarms even when the area is fenced-off with a lot of professional supervision.

We intend to discuss with the council when and where night working is ever appropriate, and how to minimise disturbance to families who need to get up to go to work and school next day.
